Ortitay Announces State Grant to Fund Renovations for Cecil/McDonald Senior Center

CECIL TOWNSHIP – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R Washington/Allegheny) today announced he secured a $100,000 state grant to fund much-needed renovations at the Cecil Township Generations Room, which is used during the day as the Cecil/McDonald Senior Center.

The funding will support a series of improvements aimed at making the facility safer and more accessible for the seniors who rely on it every day, as well as other local residents who use the space. 

Planned upgrades include:

  • Automatic doors.
  • New flooring.
  • Painting of interior walls.
  • Removal of existing built-in tables.
  • Updated kitchen appliances.
  • New built-in storage.

Renovations are expected to begin in October.

Ortitay worked with Cecil Township Supervisor Cindy Fisher to identify and secure the funding for the project.

“These are exactly the kinds of local investments that make a real difference for our community,” Ortitay said. “Our seniors deserve a space that is safe, accessible and comfortable, and I was glad to help make that happen.”

The Generations Room, which is located in the township building, serves as a hub for older adults in the Cecil and McDonald communities, offering programming, meals and services that support healthy aging and social connection.

The 46th Legislative District includes South Fayette Township and McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant and North Strabane (Districts 6,7,8 and 9) townships and Canonsburg, Houston and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
