Ortitay Secures Grant for Oakdale
November 18, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced that in partnership with Sen. Devlin Robinson (R-Allegheny) he has secured more than $400,000 through the Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF) for a major stormwater improvement project in Oakdale Borough.
The GEDTF program provides funding for single-year and multi-year projects that promote development in Allegheny County, including economic, infrastructure and community improvements; job training; public safety; and public interest. The money comes from the tax assessed on slot machines in casinos.
“For years, flooding has devastated families and businesses throughout Oakdale and fixing it has been one of my top priorities,” Ortitay said. “This investment is another meaningful step forward in the borough’s multi-pronged plan to reduce flooding, and I’m proud to continue supporting its efforts to protect the community. I’m hopeful this project will help deliver the long-term solution residents deserve.”
The $400,475 in grant funding will be used for stormwater improvements to upgrade two pollution reduction plan ponds along Cottonwood Drive and Highland Avenue. The work will include pond excavation, piping, storm manholes, inlets, fencing, gates, and replacement of end walls.
The 46th Legislative District includes South Fayette Township and McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant and North Strabane (Districts 6,7,8 and 9) townships and Canonsburg, Houston and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
