Ortitay Secures Grants for McDonald, Oakdale

January 28, 2025

SOUTH FAYETTE – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced he secured more than $312,000 in Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF) Program grants for projects in McDonald and Oakdale boroughs.

The GEDTF program provides funding for single-year and multi-year projects that promote development in Allegheny County, including economic, infrastructure and community improvements, job training, public safety and public interest. The money comes from the tax assessed on slot machines in casinos.

“Both of these projects will address local issues,” Ortitay said. “I’m pleased to have been able to work with Sen. Devlin Robinson to make the Oakdale project a reality. This project is part of a multi-pronged approach to mitigate flooding in Oakdale. In addition, the McDonald project will improve East End Park.”

The $120,000 in funding for McDonald will be used for development and security upgrades at East End Park. Oakdale’s $192,363 grant will be used to help pay for riprap with stone to stabilize the Clinton Avenue stream bank.

The 46th Legislative District includes South Fayette Township and McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant and North Strabane (Districts 6,7,8 and 9) townships and Canonsburg, Houston and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
