SOUTH FAYETTE – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced the release of $242,250 in state funds to McDonald Borough for restrooms at Heritage Park.
Ortitay advocated for the funding through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenway, Trails and Recreation Program, which funds projects for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open spaces and parks.
“Recently, significant improvements have been made to Heritage Park” Ortitay said. “By adding these restrooms, the park will be more welcoming to visitors. In addition, the park serves as a crossroads for the Panhandle and Montour trails. The restrooms will encourage use of these recreational opportunities too.”
The grant will be used to install restrooms that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The 46th Legislative District includes South Fayette Township and McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Cecil, Chartiers, Mt. Pleasant and North Strabane (Districts 6,7,8 and 9) townships and Canonsburg, Houston and McDonald boroughs in Washington County.
