Ortitay Announces Grants for Fire, EMS Companies
2/12/2024
HARRISBURG – Almost $200,000 in Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grants were awarded to 13 fire and ambulance companies in the 46th Legislative District, said Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny).

The grant program was initiated in 2000 and is open to volunteer and career fire companies, emergency medical services and rescue squads in Pennsylvania. Grant awards can be used for construction or repair of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, debt reduction and training. The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“Firefighter and emergency medical service personnel go above and beyond on a daily basis to keep us safe,” Ortitay said. “These grants are just a small way to help them do their job. Many emergency service personnel devote a lot of time to raise funds. The grants help lighten the burden a little.”

Those fire companies in the district receiving awards are:

Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department – $16,952.
Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 – $14,423.
Cecil Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 of Millers Run – $14,423.
